  33. May be the dial tone.  You might try telling your modem to blind-dial (dial without
  34. waiting for a dial tone) and see if it works -- if so, thats the problem.  Be sure and
  35. put a delay before the dial string -- normally a couple of commas before the first
  36. number.

  38. Probably not related, but notice you have a Diamond video card, which uses
  39. an S3 graphics chip.  There has been lots of problems with the S3 chip interfering
  40. with modems on Com4 -- an address conflict.  So if your modem is on Com4, just
  41. for the heck of it try moving it to another com port.
